Electrochromic (EC) technology is the core technology of the next generation of smart windows. VDI ECIGU is a high-performance smart dimming glass based on electrochromic technology. It achieves dynamic control of light transmittance through voltage adjustment and is suitable for applications such as building curtain walls, doors and windows, ships, and high-speed trains.

Core advantages

- Adjustable daylight transmittance: Multiple levels of light transmittance can be adjusted from 60% to 1% to prevent glare and increase human comfort.

- Energy saving and environmental protection: The shading coefficient can be adjusted 10 times from 0.60 to 0.06, reducing air conditioning energy consumption, and UV protection >99%.

- Smart control: Supports control via mobile APP, 485, WIFI, Bluetooth and other methods, and can be connected to smart home systems.

- High durability: Supports more than 100,000 stable switching cycles and has a lifespan of more than 20 years.



Working principle

By applying a low voltage (DC 1-3V), ion migration occurs in the electrochromic tungsten oxide layer inside the glass, altering its optical properties and achieving transmittance adjustment. The process is reversible and maintains the state with almost no power consumption (no power consumption in the transparent state, and power consumption <0.05 W/m² in the colored state).

Product Structure

- The product structure is an insulated glass unit, with the EC film layer placed inside the hollow cavity (the 4th side).

- The exterior side is EC laminated glass, and the interior side is single-pane tempered glass or laminated glass.

- The spacer bar uses 4SG, which provides good airtightness.

- The standard configuration is 6mm TP + 0.89SGP + 3.2mm EC + 12Ar + 6mm TP, and can be customized according to customer requirements.
